About the Job
ActionAid Ethiopia (AAE), in collaboration with the Policy Study Institute (PSI) and the Addis Ababa Mayor’s Office, is implementing a strategic project to enhance quality childcare and support women’s economic empowerment.
We are seeking a qualified Consultant to facilitate high-impact awareness-raising sessions for childcare workers. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between essential childcare services and the workforce’s participation in policy discussions, ensuring workers are aware of their rights and representation mechanisms.
Objectives & Scope of Work
The overall objective is to enhance childcare workers’ capacity to exercise their rights while promoting inclusive, equitable, and disability-responsive service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:

Facilitation: Design and deliver participatory training sessions using adult-learning methodologies.

Curriculum Focus: Deliver modules on:

Rights and legal frameworks for childcare workers.
-
Representation, collective voice, and organizing.
-
Advocacy and professional communication skills.

Inclusive and disability-responsive service delivery.

Dialogue Support: Foster reflection and group learning processes to strengthen collective engagement.
About You
1. Educational Background
-
Degree: Advanced degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Law, Human Rights, or a related field.
2. Professional Experience
-
Training Expertise: Proven experience in facilitation and community capacity building.

Subject Matter Knowledge: Strong background in labor rights, gender equality, and social inclusion.

Sector Experience: Prior experience working with childcare workers, women’s groups, or CSOs/INGOs.

Methodology: Demonstrated knowledge of participatory and adult-learning techniques.
3. Legal Requirements

Valid and renewed business license.

TIN Certificate and VAT Registration.
Technical Requirements

Policy Knowledge: Understanding of ActionAid’s SHEA (Sexual Harassment, Exploitation, and Abuse) and Safeguarding Policies.

Research Literacy: Ability to translate findings from PSI studies into actionable training content.
