I. ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

The Mastercard Foundation was established in 2006 through the generosity of Mastercard when it became a public company. Independent with its own Board of Directors and CEO, the Foundation has opened offices across Africa, including Ethiopia, building a leadership presence to support youth employment.

We work with governments, the private sector, and educators to ensure millions of young people—especially young women—access quality education and dignified work through Young Africa Works.

II. THE OPPORTUNITY & THE ROLE

The Africa Catalytic Investment Facility (ACIF)

To accelerate the mission of creating work for 30 million young Africans, ACIF invests in mid-to-large African enterprises to build “African champions.” We take significant minority stakes and commit to Africa-focused private equity and credit funds.

Your Role

Reporting to the Head of Finance & Accounting, you will partner with Country Program Leads to manage end-to-end financial programmatic processes. You will ensure programs are adequately budgeted, monitored, and compliant with CRA regulations while safeguarding the Foundation’s financial resources.

III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Organized into three main pillars:

1. Program & Partner Management

• Manage full cycle contracts: EOI, proposal, approval, and due diligence.

• Guide and train external partners on budgeting and financial controls.

• Lead comprehensive program assessments to ensure quality control.

2. Financial Strategy & Analysis

• Analyze financial performance against forecast and budget.

• Provide expertise on funding terms, taxation, and Accounting Standards.

• Support learning and evaluation activities with value-for-money analysis.

3. Compliance & Risk Mitigation

• Ensure compliance with CRA requirements and international financial laws.

• Maintain accountability for the quality of Due Diligence assessments.

• Troubleshoot and manage financial issues during implementation.

IV. WHO YOU ARE

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (MBA is an added advantage).

• Professional qualification: CPA, ACCA, or equivalent.

• 10+ years of progressive financial experience in global organizations.

• 1–3 years in a management capacity leading technical teams.

Technical Competencies

• Expert in Financial Internal Controls and Forecasting.

• Advanced analytical, quantitative, and financial modeling skills.

• Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
