About the Job
Habesha Steel Mills PLC is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to join our finance team. This role is critical for maintaining financial integrity, ensuring statutory compliance, and providing deep insights into our manufacturing costs. We are specifically looking for a candidate who can excel in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cost Accounting & Analysis

Track and manage manufacturing expenses through robust cost accounting systems.

Analyze variances in material, labor, and overhead, providing actionable reports to management.

Coordinate physical stock counts and conduct regular inventory valuations.

Monitor “Work in Progress” (WIP) and finished goods to ensure production data accuracy.
2. Financial Reporting & General Ledger

Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

Manage journal entries and maintain a well-documented general ledger.
3. Compliance & Tax Management

Handle timely declarations and payments for VAT, TOT, Withholding, and Income Tax per Ethiopian law.

Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors.
4. Budgeting & Control

Support the development of departmental budgets and financial forecasts.

Identify and implement cost-reduction strategies and process improvements.
About You
Required Qualifications

Education: BA Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience: 3–5 years of professional experience. Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is highly preferred.
Technical Skills

Software: Proficiency in accounting software such as Peachtree (Sage), SAP, or other ERP systems.

Excel: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for complex data analysis.

Standards: Solid understanding of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
