About the Job
As a Senior Credit Portfolio Recovery Officer, your primary mission is to protect the bank’s asset quality by minimizing financial losses. You will take the lead in managing, restructuring, and recovering Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) and distressed accounts. This role requires a strategic approach to debt recovery, high-level coordination with legal teams, and the ability to supervise junior staff while ensuring strict compliance with National Bank regulations.
Key Responsibilities

NPL Management: Identify, analyze, and manage a portfolio of non-performing loans to implement effective recovery strategies.

Loan Restructuring: Negotiate and design restructuring plans for distressed borrowers to facilitate repayment and rehabilitate accounts.

Legal Coordination: Initiate and monitor legal proceedings for debt recovery, working closely with the legal department and external bailiffs.

Supervision: Provide guidance and oversight to junior recovery officers, ensuring departmental targets are met.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all recovery activities adhere to the bank’s credit policies and National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) directives.

Asset Quality Protection: Monitor the overall health of the credit portfolio and provide regular reports on recovery progress and potential risks.
About You
Education Requirements

Degree: BA/BSc in Accounting, Economics, Management, Business Administration, Banking & Finance, or a related field.
Experience Requirements

Total Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the banking industry.

Specific Role Experience: At least 2 years must have been served as a Trade Service Officer or in a closely related position.
Core Competencies & Skills

International Trade Exposure: A solid understanding of international trade finance and instruments is essential.

Negotiation: Proven ability to handle difficult negotiations with delinquent borrowers.

Legal Literacy: Familiarity with the legal frameworks surrounding debt collection and foreclosure.

Analytical Thinking: Ability to assess financial statements and borrower viability to determine the best recovery path.
