Purpose of the Job

To ensure AKUFADA’s leadership in delivering technology-supported, efficient, and convenient financial products and services by leading the development and management of the institution’s information systems and technology resources. This position is directly responsible for building a user-friendly, flexible decision-support system to drive rational, data-driven decision-making across all operational levels.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Roadmap: Develop short- and long-term strategic plans respecting the MFI’s IT infrastructure (hardware, information systems, security architectures, and communication networks), core applications, and digital banking frameworks.

  • Stakeholder Consultation: Consult senior-level corporate stakeholders (Board of Directors and Executive Officers) to align emerging business requirements with technological investments.

  • IT Governance: Lead the development, implementation, and strict auditing of the corporate IT governance framework and enterprise architecture.

  • Vendor Management: Build and maintain mutually advantageous, sustainable relationships with external IT service providers and tech solution vendors.

  • Process Optimization: Lead continuous IT service delivery improvement initiatives and monitor system performance standards.

  • Ad-hoc Tasks: Execute other relevant executive duties assigned by immediate supervisors or executive management.

Job Requirements

Educational Background

  • Master’s Degree or BSc Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related computational fields.

Work Experience

  • With Master’s Degree: Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant IT experience, with at least two (2) years serving in a managerial position.

  • With BSc Degree: Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant IT experience, with at least three (3) years serving in a managerial position.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with an active background in the financial or microfinance industry.

Core Competencies & Skills

  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of financial software infrastructure, digital banking apps, network engineering, and information security protocols.

  • Leadership & Strategy: Proven skill in establishing strategic direction, driving technical execution, selling a unified vision, and managing empowerment or delegation.

  • Business Savvy: Strong financial acumen paired with a passion for high-yield organizational results.
