About the Role

ZE-EL Trading PLC, a mid-sized importer and distributor of pharmaceutical products, seeks a detail-oriented and reliable Accountant to manage day-to-day financial operations and support accurate, timely financial reporting in a fast-paced import and distribution environment.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Core Financial Accounting

• Record and maintain daily financial transactions, ledgers, and journals.

• Process incoming payments and receipts and perform regular bank reconciliations.

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including tracking supplier and customer accounts.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.

Import & Inventory Costing

• Handle specialized import-related costing, Letters of Credit (LC), and foreign currency transactions.

• Maintain accurate inventory and cost records in close coordination with the store/warehouse team.

Compliance & External Relations

• Ensure strict compliance with Ethiopian tax laws (VAT, withholding tax, profit tax) and guarantee timely filings.

• Support internal/external audits, budgeting processes, and management reporting.

• Liaise directly with commercial banks, the tax authority, and other regulatory bodies as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Background

• BA Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field of study.

Experience

• 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience.

• Direct experience in the pharmaceutical, import/distribution, or trading sector is highly preferred.

Technical Skills & Competencies

• Software Literacy: Proficiency in Peachtree, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software packages, along with strong MS Excel skills.

• Regulatory Knowledge: Sound working knowledge of Ethiopian tax and financial regulations.

• Core Attributes: Strong attention to detail, high professional integrity, and solid analytical skills.
