Job Summary

The Director – Infrastructure, Cloud & Operations is a pivotal senior leadership role responsible for designing, governing, and operating all of OVID IT’s and OVID Group’s technology infrastructure. This encompasses cloud platforms, network operations, server and systems administration, backup & disaster recovery, and enterprise collaboration services. The role requires a seasoned technology leader with hands-on infrastructure depth, strong cloud expertise, and the leadership capability to build and scale an operations team capable of supporting enterprise clients.

Main Responsibilities

• Strategic Planning: Define and execute a cloud-first infrastructure strategy aligned with business growth, ERP platforms, digital products, and cybersecurity requirements.

• Infrastructure Governance: Govern hybrid infrastructure operations including on-premises data centers, co-location, and cloud environments (Azure, AWS, and/or GCP).

• Network & Systems Authority: Oversee network architecture (WAN/LAN, switching, routing, firewalls, wireless) and lead enterprise server administration, virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V), and operating systems.

• Business Continuity: Manage backup architecture, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity testing with defined RTO/RPO objectives.

• Operations & Collaboration: Oversee enterprise collaboration platforms (Microsoft 365, Teams, Exchange, SharePoint) and enforce governance policies, security baselines, change management procedures, and SLA frameworks.

• Financial & Vendor Management: Manage vendor relationships for ISPs, cloud, hardware, and network service providers while overseeing infrastructure budgets, procurement, and total cost of ownership (TCO).

• Executive Leadership: Provide executive reporting on infrastructure health, metrics, and strategic delivery, while building a skilled 24/7 infrastructure team.

About You

Required Experience

• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in infrastructure, cloud, and IT operations.

• At least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing infrastructure and operations teams.

• Proven experience managing hybrid cloud environments in enterprise-scale organizations.

• Demonstrated track record of designing and implementing cloud migration and infrastructure modernization programs.

• Experience with network operations management, data center management, and DR planning.

• Experience working in or with Ethiopian or East African enterprises is a significant advantage.

Academic Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field (exceptional practical experience will be considered).

Technical Skills & Professional Certifications

• Highly Required: Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104).

• Strongly Preferred: Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) and/or AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate/Professional).

• Core Systems & Networks: Cisco CCNP Enterprise or CCNA (Routing & Switching); VMware VCP (vSphere) or equivalent virtualization certification.

• Service Operations & Collaboration: ITIL 4 Foundation or Service Operations certification; Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert (MS-102) is advantageous.

Competencies & Skills

• Required Skills: Communication, IT and software development.

• Leadership: Ability to lead teams under pressure during critical outages, plan workforce development, and establish operational frameworks, runbooks, and escalation procedures.

• Communication: Strong verbal and written skills in English (Amharic proficiency is advantageous). Skilled in translating infrastructure complexity into business impact and preparing board presentations.
