Job Summary

The Finance and Grants Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, grant administration, and reporting functions for EngenderHealth Ethiopia. S/he ensures accurate financial accounting, document verification, budgeting, internal controls, and grant/subgrant management in line with organizational policies, government/donor regulations, and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management:

    • Manage day-to-day financial operations (accounting, transaction processing, monthly/annual closing, cash flow, and budget tracking).

    • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting in coordination with program and operations teams.

    • Track budget spending, provide periodic budget variance analysis to project leads, and maintain effective internal controls.

    • Support internal, external, and donor audits, and manage financial and timesheet systems (e.g., DOVICO).

    • Supervise and support finance staff.

  • Grant & Subgrant Management:

    • Manage the full lifecycle of grants and subgrants (partner identification, due diligence, agreement preparation, monitoring, reporting, and close-out).

    • Review partner financial reports, supporting documentation, advances, and liquidation requests.

    • Conduct financial monitoring site visits, compliance checks, and risk assessments for implementing partners.

    • Provide technical support and financial capacity building to partners.

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:

    • Prepare, review, and submit accurate financial reports for management and regulatory bodies.

    • Provide financial analysis and interpretation to support program implementation decisions.

  • Asset & Inventory Control:

    • Oversee inventory and asset tracking, review stock reports, and reconcile discrepancies.

    • Ensure proper documentation, safeguarding, and control of records and assets using accounting systems (Sage X3, Peachtree, or similar).

About You

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (CPA, ACCA) is an advantage.

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in financial and grant management, preferably in INGOs or donor-funded programs managing subgrants to local partners.

  • Audit & Compliance: Proven experience in auditing and donor compliance is required. Experience with international donors (Foundations, USG, SIDA, EKN, etc.) is a plus.

  • Travel: Willingness to travel to field sites as required.

  • Core Skill: Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Technical: Strong financial and analytical skills, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Proficiency in accounting software (Sage X3, Peachtree, or similar ERP systems).

  • Soft Skills: Strong teamwork, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Integrity, accountability, and a commitment to multiple deadlines under pressure.

  • Languages: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
