Main Purpose of the Job
To support the Project Coordinator (PC) in security management, context analysis, and coordination tasks. This role ensures smooth relations with local and national authorities and acts as a key link to maintain networking, security databases, and administrative alignment according to MSF protocols.
Key Responsibilities

External Representation & Networking: Represent MSF externally (alone or alongside the PC), negotiate based on pre-agreed messaging, and maintain continuous networking with local authorities, NGOs, UN agencies, and community leaders.

Context & Security Tracking: Monitor, analyze, and report on security risks. Maintain the security database, provide biweekly context analysis reports, participate in developing security plans, and conduct regular briefings for staff, drivers, and guards.

Assessments & Emergency Response: Actively participate in exploratory missions and medical/humanitarian assessments over the entire Benishangul-Gumuz region, with the flexibility to deploy for rapid emergency responses.

Communication & Documentation: Draft official correspondence, act as an interpreter/translator when needed, log precise meeting minutes, and support internal and external communications to promote understanding of MSF principles.

Records Management: Support operations (OPS) records management, organize contingency files, and use standardized MSF logbooks and templates to keep source information accurate.

Availability: Remain contactable by phone and available to assist the PC with urgent security or operational issues that arise outside of standard working hours.

About You
Education & Experience
-
Education: University Diploma level, preferably in Social Sciences (Political Sciences, International Public Law, Anthropology, Economics, etc.).

Experience: 3–5 years of relevant work experience (Mid Level).
-
Essential: Direct exposure to working in complex political, security, and humanitarian environments.

Essential: Proven track record in data collection, reporting, and context analysis.

Desirable: Two years of previous experience in a similar role within humanitarian aid (MSF or other INGOs).

Desirable: Prior management experience.

Languages

High-level command of written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the Benishangul-Gumuz region is necessary.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.

In-depth knowledge of local laws, culture, and customs of the intervention area.

Basic computer literacy (MS Office, Word, Excel, Email, and Internet/Social Media tracking).
