Job Title: Regional Senior Project Accountant

Major Responsibilities

Budget Development: Leads the formulation of strategic, annual cost, and income budgets. Designs project-specific budgets for donor submissions.

Compliance & Recording: Ensures all financial transactions align with ODA policies, donor rules, and standard accounting practices to ensure positive external audits.

Payroll & Benefits Management: Manages payroll and processing of staff allowances/benefits in compliance with the HR Manual.

Financial Reporting: Examines and analyzes financial statements, ledgers, and tax liabilities for accuracy and completeness.

Disbursements: Verifies required documentation and prepares payment vouchers to request disbursements.

Team Leadership: Coaches and mentors junior accounting staff to enhance technical capacity.

Ethical Commitment: Adheres strictly to ODA’s code of conduct regarding the prevention and response to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) allegations.
About You
Qualification & Experience

Education: MA/BA degree in Accounting, Finance and Accounting, Financial Management, Business, Economics, Management, Business Administration, or related fields. Additional training in accounting policy is an advantage.

Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience for Bachelor’s degree holders, or 6 years for Master’s degree holders, within government, national, or international organizations.
Required Skills & Competencies

Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of the Charities and Civil Societies Agency proclamation and donor grant rules/regulations.

Accounting Standards: Extensive experience implementing policies fully compliant with GAAP and national requirements.

Data & Analysis: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and deliver recommendations to executive management.

Systems & Tools: Proficient with Microsoft Office packages and modern financial accounting software systems.

Languages: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, Amharic, and Afaan Oromo.

Compensation & Benefits

Basic Monthly Salary: ETB 51,784.00
