Job Purpose
The Ultimate Insurance Broker is seeking competent, detail-oriented, and ethical professionals to join the finance team. The Accountant is responsible for recording, analyzing, and reporting financial transactions—with a specialized focus on life claims accounting processes. This role supports various financial and administrative tasks to ensure accurate financial management, legal compliance, and operational efficiency across the organization.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Claims & Transaction Processing: Record and process everyday financial transactions, including specialized life insurance claim payments and financial data entries.

Ledger Maintenance: Prepare accurate ledger journal entries and maintain structural accounting records.

Reconciliations: Perform strict bank statement reconciliations, general ledger reviews, and claims payout account reconciliations.

Verification: Assist in processing, validating, and filing company payments alongside their tracking supporting documents.

Reporting & Auditing: Prepare periodic financial, operational, and core management reports. Provide clean documentation trails to support internal and external audit processes.

Budget Support: Assist in annual budgeting workflows, corporate expense tracking, and ongoing financial monitoring activities.

Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate closely between the Life Claims Department, broader Finance teams, and administrative units to ensure seamless operational continuity.

Qualifications & Experience
Educational Background
-
Diploma or BA Degree in Accounting and Finance from a recognized higher learning institution.
Experience Requirements

For BA Degree Holders: Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional accounting experience.

For Diploma Holders: Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional accounting experience.

Note: Prior background working within the insurance, banking, or microfinance sectors is a highly valued added advantage.
Core Technical Competencies

Mandatory Software Skill: High proficiency in Peachtree Accounting Software is strictly required.

Strong working knowledge of standard Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) frameworks.

Excellent command of Microsoft Excel and corporate MS Office applications.

Proven background in financial analysis, documentation control, and complex ledger reconciliations.
