About the Role
The Administration and Finance Officer manages the day-to-day finance, accounting, and administration of Birrama’s component of the IRIF project, ensuring compliance with Birrama, partner, and donor requirements, and producing timely, accurate financial reports.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting

Maintain the project’s books of accounts and process all payments (vendors, staff claims, partner transfers) in line with Birrama policies and international standards.

Prepare monthly reconciliations and quarterly donor-format financial reports for the Project Manager and Farm Africa.

Track project expenditure against the assigned budget, proactively flagging variances and financial risks.
Administration, HR & Procurement

Manage procurement activities, asset registers, and project records (both physical and digital) to ensure audit readiness.

Handle basic HR administration for project staff, including onboarding, leave tracking, and timesheet management.

Support overall budget planning processes and facilitate internal/external audit exercises.

Ensure strict compliance with Ethiopian tax and labor laws alongside donor regulations.

Qualifications and Requirements
Educational Background
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional financial certifications are considered an advantage.
Work Experience

Minimum of 2 years of professional finance and administration experience.

Mandatory Requirement: At least 1 year of direct experience working on local/international NGOs or internationally donor-funded projects.
Technical & Language Skills

Core Skills: Strong accounting foundations and deep familiarity with IFRS/IPSAS compliance.

Software Competency: Proficiency in computerized accounting systems (Peachtree, QuickBooks) and advanced MS Excel skills.

Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English and Amharic. Professional working knowledge of Afaan Oromo is an advantage.

Soft Skills: High level of integrity, meticulous attention to detail, organizational skills, and a proven ability to hit tight deadlines.
