Finance Officer

About the Job
Position Summary
The Finance Officer will be responsible for day-to-day finance and accounting operations of the local entity in Ethiopia. This role focuses on bookkeeping, tax compliance, bank payments, and routine financial reporting, while working closely with Head Office Finance to ensure compliance with local regulations and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and complete accounting records in accordance with company policies and local regulations
Handle daily bookkeeping, including vouchers preparation, ledger posting, and account reconciliations
Prepare and submit local tax filings, including VAT, withholding tax, income tax, and other statutory taxes
Process bank payments and manage relationships with local banks
Support monthly and annual closing activities under the guidance of Head Office Finance
Maintain proper documentation for financial transactions, contracts, and payments
Assist in audits and provide required financial information to auditors and tax authorities
Ensure compliance with Ethiopia Revenue and Customs Authority (ERCA) requirements
Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and reports.
Perform other finance-related tasks as assigned by the Finance Manager or Head Office

About You
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
at least 5 years of experience in accounting or finance-related roles
Solid understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial processes
Experience with bookkeeping, tax filing, and bank payment operations
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting software
Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic
Willingness to work overtime when required
Ability to follow instructions, work under supervision, and meet deadlines
Preferred Attributes
Experience working in local Ethiopian companies or projects
Familiarity with ERCA reporting processes
Detail-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility and compliance awareness
Cooperative team player with a practical and execution-focused mindset
Ability to independently handle assigned finance and accounting tasks

Scope & Authority
This role is execution-focused and operates under the supervision of Head Office Finance
No independent financial decision-making authority beyond assigned responsibilities
