Position Overview:

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Finance Officer / Accountant to manage and oversee all financial operations of the company. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate financial record-keeping, timely reporting, legal compliance, and support strategic financial decision-making for a diversified business engaged in import/export, construction, and various commercial operations.

The role requires proactive communication with leadership, compliance with Ethiopian tax and financial laws, and the ability to maintain sound internal financial controls.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Transactions & Accounting

Record and monitor daily financial transactions (receipts, payments, invoices, and journal entries).
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate general ledger entries.
Handle payroll processing and ensure compliance with tax and pension deductions.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate financial documentation.
2. Financial Reporting & Analysis

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Generate financial reports to assist management in decision-making.
Analyze financial trends and provide insights for business planning.
Maintain internal reporting schedules for cash flow, budgets, and forecasts.
3. Taxation & Compliance

Ensure full compliance with Ethiopian tax laws (VAT, Withholding Tax, Payroll Tax, Income Tax).
Prepare and file monthly and annual tax returns on time.
Liaise with Ethiopian Revenue and Customs Authority (ERCA) and other government bodies as needed.
Stay current with regulatory updates and provide timely alerts and recommendations to management.
4. Legal & Regulatory Coordination

Ensure the company meets its statutory and legal obligations.
Support external audits and maintain required audit documentation.
Keep leadership informed of regulatory deadlines and required actions.
Prepare and submit required financial and operational documents to regulatory bodies.
5. Procurement & Inventory Support (Optional)

Collaborate with the procurement team to verify supplier invoices and payments.
Help track inventory and cost data relevant to import and warehouse construction projects.
About You
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience, preferably in the private sector or diversified businesses.
Highly recommended experience in the import and export business.
Experience on construction work and multipurpose warehouse management business is also a plus
Solid knowledge of Ethiopian tax and financial regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Peachtree, QuickBooks, or ERP systems).
Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
