General Objective:
The Finance Officer/Accountant is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day accounting & financial activities of the PC field satellite office in Moyale. S/he will work under the supervision of Finance & Administration Manager and work closely with other administration and program staff.
Main Responsibilities
Responsible for maintaining proper financial transaction record in the accounting system on a daily basis.
Assist in processing disbursements and prepare vouchers, payments by ensuring the validity as well as completeness of supporting documents.
Ensuring timely settlement of travel advances, another receivable of the PC field satellite office in Moyale.
Ensuring timely settlement of monthly bills.
Assist in preparing journal vouchers for non-cash transactions
Assist in timely reconciliation and settlement of taxes (WHT and employment income tax) and pension contribution.
Assist in reviewing petty cash records and documentation.
Undertake petty cash count.
Assist in finance and administration file management.
Undertake periodic financial reporting and budget development as well as monitoring process.
Assist in reviewing procurement documentation in line with PC policy and donors’ requirements.
Assist in partner financial review, as required.
Assist in administration and logistics services processes, as required.
Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
About You
Job Requirements Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (BA) in accounting and/or Finance.
A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in a non-profit organization, preferably an INGO.
Knowledge and experience in major donors such EU, USAID, UN-Agencies, -financed programs and projects is desirable including knowledge of these donor’s requirements.
Excellent command of both spoken and written English and Amharic languages is mandatory and Oromifa language desirable.
Excellent computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant accounting software (Peachtree), IPSAS and Excel required.
Knowledge of internationally acceptable accounting standards and standard office administrative practices and procedures.
