Position Summary

The Group Geologist General Manager is responsible for leading all geological operations, exploration activities, and resource development projects across the Group. This high-level leadership role ensures the strategic planning and execution of geological programs to support business growth and resource sustainability. The position requires a blend of deep technical expertise in earth sciences and robust operational management to oversee multidisciplinary teams.


Major Duties & Responsibilities

1. Geological Operations & Technical Leadership

  • Strategy: Develop and implement geological strategies aligned with company-wide growth objectives.

  • Exploration: Lead mapping, drilling, sampling, and data collection activities to evaluate mineral resources.

  • Expertise: Provide guidance on feasibility studies and resource estimations, introducing modern geological technologies and best practices to resolve complex operational challenges.

2. Resource Planning & Development

  • Estimation: Lead mineral identification and reserve estimation processes to ensure accurate resource reporting.

  • Planning: Develop long-term exploration plans and support budgeting and investment decisions.

  • Sustainability: Monitor resource utilization to ensure long-term sustainability and environmental balance.

3. Compliance, Safety & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Standards: Ensure all geological work meets international standards (e.g., JORC or NI 43-101) and local regulatory requirements.

  • HSE Management: Promote a safety-first culture and ensure adherence to environmental standards and rehabilitation programs.

  • Liaison: Act as the primary technical contact for government authorities, external partners, and consultants.

4. Leadership & Capacity Development

  • Mentorship: Lead and mentor a performance-driven team of geologists and technical staff.

  • Innovation: Drive continuous improvement and knowledge transfer within the department.


About You

1. Education & Qualifications

  • Academic Background: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Mining Geology, or a related field.

  • Certification: Professional geological certification or membership in a recognized professional body is preferred.

2. Professional Experience

  • Tenure: Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in geological exploration, resource development, or mining.

  • Leadership: Proven track record in senior leadership or general management roles within large-scale geological initiatives.

  • Project Management: Strong background in strategic planning and managing multi-million dollar exploration budgets.

3. Required Skills

  • Strategic Communication: Exceptional skills in teamwork, team mobilization, and partnership management.

  • Analytical Thinking: Deep capability in reviewing feasibility studies and complex geological reports.

  • Safety Mindset: Comprehensive understanding of occupational health and environmental standards.
