About the Job

The Head of Key Accounts is responsible for the strategic management, development, and expansion of the organization’s most critical and high-value client accounts. This role transcends traditional relationship management; you will set the direction for key account strategy, drive substantial revenue growth, and guide account managers to ensure a consistent, exceptional client experience. You will act as a senior advisor to clients and a strategic partner internally to align commercial objectives with customer success.


Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Business Planning

  • Strategic Partnerships: Build and sustain trust-based relationships with senior client stakeholders and decision-makers.

  • Account Strategy: Lead the development of comprehensive growth plans that align client objectives with long-term organizational priorities.

  • Governance: Establish and implement best practices in key account management, ensuring disciplined account planning and strong stakeholder engagement.

2. Revenue Growth & Value Expansion

  • Lifetime Value: Drive revenue growth through strategic upselling, cross-selling, and identifying new business opportunities within existing high-value accounts.

  • Negotiation: Manage complex negotiations and resolve high-level escalations to ensure consistent service delivery.

3. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Integrated Solutions: Lead collaboration across internal teams—including Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance—to deliver solutions that meet unique client needs.

  • Commercial Alignment: Act as the bridge between internal commercial goals and the actual success of the client.

4. Performance & Reporting

  • Metric Analysis: Oversee account performance by analyzing commercial and relationship metrics.

  • Strategic Insights: Provide reports on account health, potential risks, and growth opportunities to executive management.


About You

1. Experience & Education

  • Tenure: 6–8 years of progressive experience in Sales or Key Account Management.

  • Strategic Focus: At least 2–3 years specifically managing strategic or high-value accounts.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.

2. Key Competencies

  • Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated success in expanding client portfolios and delivering sustainable revenue growth.

  • Influencing Skills: Excellent negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to interpret sales statistics, client performance metrics, and market trends to improve strategies.

  • Language: Fluency in English and Amharic is required; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.

3. Preferred Background

  • Familiarity with the Beverage or FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) industry is a significant plus.


Core Required Skills

  • Sales Leadership: Ability to mentor and guide a team of Key Account Managers.

  • Sales Execution: Proven track record in high-stakes negotiation and closing.

  • Reporting: Advanced capability in sales reporting and data-driven strategy adjustment.
