Organization Profile and Background
Pastoralist Concern PC is a pastoralist-initiated, -inspired and -led CSO working toward sustainable development in pastoralist areas of Ethiopia since 1995, their vision is “to see improved and sustainable livelihood of the pastoralist communities of Ethiopia and further realize strong co-operations with neighbouring countries’ pastoralist communities.” PC works within our target area in the Somali region, engaging in both multi-sector development programming and emergency responses across diverse sectors that include health and nutrition, WASH, environmental resilience, education, protection and women’s empowerment. PC works with the hard-to-reach pastoralist and agro-pastoralist populations, including in Somali region. Skills training, mobilization and organization, awareness creation, input provision, value chain development, and market linkages are among the key strategies and approaches of PC to improving health and nutrition and to building livelihood resilience. PC has roughly 110 permanent staff, including staff with technical experience in community-based programming, protection, gender, GBV, resilience, WASH, Health and Nutrition who are based at their head office and field offices.

Job Summary
The Information Technology (IT) Officer is a versatile and critical role responsible for the management and maintenance of our entire IT infrastructure and systems. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver, providing essential technical support to our team while also ensuring the security and integrity of our organizational data. This position is central to enhancing our operational efficiency and supporting our programmatic goals through the effective use of technology. In a resource-conscious environment, the IT Officer will be expected to be resourceful, managing everything from day-to-day helpdesk tasks to strategic IT planning.
Key Responsibilities
Systems and Network Administration:
Install, configure, and maintain all IT hardware, including servers, computers, printers, and networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls).
Administer the local area network (LAN), Wi-Fi network, and ensure reliable internet
connectivity across the office.
Manage user accounts, email systems (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365), and access permissions.
Perform regular maintenance, updates, and patching for operating systems and software to ensure optimal performance and security.
IT Security and Data Management:
Implement and manage robust data backup and recovery procedures for all critical organizational data.
Administer antivirus software and firewalls to protect the network from malware,
phishing, and other cyber threats.
Develop and enforce IT policies and best practices for data protection and information security.
Ensure compliance with data protection regulations relevant to our beneficiaries and donors.
Technical Support and Capacity Building:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all staff IT support requests, providing timely and effective troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues.
Conduct IT orientation for new staff members.
Train staff on the use of common software applications, collaboration tools, and
cybersecurity best practices to enhance digital literacy and productivity.
Develop and maintain user-friendly technical documentation and “how-to” guides.
Programmatic and Operational Support:
Manage and maintain the organization’s website and assist with digital communication tools.
Provide technical support for program-specific technology, such as mobile data collection tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK), databases (for MCE), and other information management systems.
Assist in the procurement of IT equipment and software, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to budget and donor requirements.
Manage relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
About You
Ǫualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in an IT support or systems administration role. Experience working within an NGO or non-profit environment is highly advantageous.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems (Windows 10, Windows Server).
Proficiency in managing office productivity suites like Microsoft 365 or Google
Workspace.
Hands-on experience with network administration, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and Wi-Fi configuration.
Experience with hardware and software troubleshooting and maintenance.
Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, including firewall and antivirus management.
Knowledge of data backup and recovery solutions.
Basic knowledge of website content management systems (e.g., WordPress) is a plus.
Desired Skills and Competencies
