Position: Internal control Officer
Responsible To: Internal Control Manager
Term of Employment: Contract
Duty Station(s): Addis Ababa (Head Office)
Overview of the Position
As an Internal Control Officer, you will assess the design and implementation of internal controls, conduct audits and reviews, and provide recommendations to management for enhancing control environments and minimizing risks. Your role involves collaborating with stakeholders, identifying control deficiencies, and promoting a culture of accountability and integrity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and Monitor Financial TransactionsEnsure all financial transactions comply with organizational policies and donor rules.
Verify accuracy, authorization, and completeness.
Ensure Compliance with Policies and Donor RequirementsReview operations to confirm adherence to internal policies, procedures, and donor agreements.
Make sure procurement, payroll, and expense processes follow both internal and external guidelines.
Risk Identification and MitigationIdentify potential financial or operational risks.
Recommend preventive measures to reduce fraud, waste, or misuse of funds.
Monitor and Evaluate Internal Control SystemsRegularly assess whether controls (like segregation of duties, approval limits, and reconciliations) are working effectively.
Suggest improvements to strengthen control systems.
Conduct Spot Checks and Internal ReviewsVisit project sites to verify physical assets, inventory, and documentation.
Review field cash management and ensure proper use of funds.
Support External and Internal AuditsFollow up on audit findings to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Capacity Building and AwarenessTrain staff on internal control, financial policies, and donor compliance.
Promote a culture of accountability and transparency.
ReportingProvide periodic internal control reports to ICU Manager

About You
Requirements and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and Finance, Management, Economics and risk management.
3 years and above relevant experience in Internal control activities or related
