About the Job
The Project Accountant is responsible for the financial integrity and operational compliance of the Gilgelbeles project office. Reporting to the Regional Program Coordinator and functionally to the Country Office Finance Manager, you will manage project-specific budgets, ensure rigorous internal controls, and oversee asset management. This role is critical for ensuring that humanitarian and development funds are utilized transparently and in accordance with both Imagine 1 Day policies and Ethiopian law.
Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Controls: Ensure all financial activities align with I1D procedures and Ethiopian government regulations. Maintain strict control over regional office assets.

Budgeting & Cash Flow: Prepare monthly budget variance reports and project cash flow analyses. Handle monthly cash requests from the regional office according to standard protocols.

Financial Reporting: Review regional monthly financial reports against primary documentation. Prepare monthly and quarterly donor template reports for the Finance Coordinator.

Ledger Management: Record transactions in appropriate ledgers and post to QuickBooks (QB) on a monthly basis. Clear payables and receivables regularly.

Tax & Statutory Obligations: Manage and process monthly income tax, pension, and Provident Fund (PF) payments.

Sub-Grant Oversight: Review financial reports from sub-grant partners to ensure they meet agreement standards.

Reconciliations: Perform comprehensive monthly bank reconciliations and ensure audit readiness at all times.
About You
Education & Experience

Education: BA Degree in Accounting or a finance-related field.

Total Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in finance and related roles.

Specific Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a Project Accountant; experience within an International NGO (INGO) is highly desirable.
Technical Skills

Software Proficiency: Advanced MS Excel skills are mandatory. Experience with QuickBooks, SAP, or Tableau is required.

Financial Knowledge: Solid understanding of financial and accounting procedures, as well as local financial regulations and IFRS.

Analytical Ability: Strong numerical skills with a sharp eye for detail and time management.
