Job Summary

Sky Gate PLC, a newly established travel retail company aiming to become a leading duty-free retail operator in Ethiopia and the region, is seeking 15 Sales Assistants. This front-line role provides high-quality customer service, drives duty-free retail sales, processes point-of-sale (POS) transactions, and manages inventory displays within a fast-paced international airport environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Service & Upselling: Greet international travelers, answer questions, provide comprehensive product information, and introduce ongoing store promotions to maximize sales.

• Sales & Transactions: Support and guide customers through payment processing (cash and credit cards) and handle baseline transactions accurately via POS cash registers.

• Stock Management: Receive, unpack, catalog, and organize incoming retail inventory. Keep store shelves adequately restocked and monitor visual product levels.

• Merchandising & Maintenance: Maintain a pristine, premium store environment; set up and clean visual retail displays according to brand standards.

• Security Compliance: Actively monitor the shop floor to prevent theft, protect premium merchandise, and adhere strictly to airport and company security policies.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a closely related field.

• Experience: 1 to 3 years of work experience; prior experience in a retail or hospitality setting is highly valued.

• Language Skills:

  • Mandatory: Fluency in verbal and written English is strictly required.

  • Advantageous: Proficiency in additional languages (such as Arabic, Chinese, French, or Swahili) is highly preferred due to the international clientele.

• Technical & Physical Competence: Basic mathematical math skills, familiarity with MS Office, and comfort using computerized cash registers. Candidates must be physically capable of standing for long periods and handling retail inventory.

• Traits: Professional appearance, polite demeanor, strong multitasking skills, and a reliable work ethic suited for shift schedules.
