THE ROLE
The Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting in full compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and all applicable legal, tax, and regulatory requirements.
The role leads the preparation and review of financial statements, manages complex accounting treatments (including leases, revenue recognition, and financial instruments), coordinates internal and external audits, and strengthens internal controls across the finance function. The position plays a critical role in maintaining financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and reporting excellence within the organization
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual IFRS-compliant financial statements.
Ensure proper accounting treatment for complex transactions (leases, revenue, financial instruments, provisions, impairments).
Manage month-end close processes including reconciliations, accruals, journals, and intercompany transactions.
Ensure compliance with local legal, tax, and regulatory requirements and maintain statutory records.
Lead and coordinate internal and external audits; resolve audit queries and track action points.
Provide technical accounting guidance and review contracts for financial reporting implications.
Strengthen internal controls over financial reporting and drive process improvements.
Support tax reconciliations (VAT/WHT) and statutory return accuracy.
Oversee treasury-related reconciliations, cash controls, and FX analysis where applicable.
Ensure ERP data integrity and reporting consistency across entities.
Comply with Safeguarding, Gender Equality & Inclusion (GEI), and Code of Conduct policies.
About You
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree or professional certification such as ACCA/CPA is strongly preferred).
Experience:
5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on IFRS reporting.
Demonstrated experience leading external audits and preparing IFRS-compliant financial statements.
Experience in mining, manufacturing, or multinational environments is an advantage.
ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
Strong IFRS technical knowledge and ability to interpret standards pragmatically.
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Sage, or similar).
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Solid understanding of internal controls, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
Excellent documentation discipline and organizational skills.
Effective communicator with ability to translate technical accounting matters to non-finance stakeholders.
Ability to manage tight month-end timelines and multiple priorities.
