About the Job
Role Summary: The Attorney and corporate counsel plead cases and represent the company before a court of law. He/she prepares pleadings based on the legal requirements as stipulated in the Civil Procedure Code of Ethiopia and other relevant laws. He/ she assists the department manager in reviewing legal documents, advising different departments of the company and in the administration of shareholder affairs.
Key Responsibilities:
initiate and pursue legal proceedings as required by the Company, i.e., prepare statement of claims, defenses, submissions and other pleadings both “for and against” the Company
Prepares pleadings based on the legal requirements as stipulated in the Civil Procedure Code of Ethiopia and other relevant laws
Prepare, file and plead cases in court in pursuit of amounts owed to the Company.
Represent the company before a court of law and any judicial organ in any litigation.
Replies, notices, and monitor legal rights and obligations.
Draft and/or review legal letters, contracts and agreements, and monitor legal obligations under agreements to ensure compliance, as requested.
Assist the manager in reviewing legal documents, preparing procedures, manuals and codes of conduct
Research and prepare legal opinions on various matters
Develop guidelines.
Advice on statutory compliances
Guidemanagers and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
Providing training on different legal issues
About You
Level of education: BA degree in LLB
Work experience: A minimum of 8 years in corporate/commercial law
Language: English – Fluency both in writing and speaking
