Role Overview

Oneness Academy and One Planet International School are seeking a Senior Backend Developer with strong expertise in NestJS, TypeScript, and scalable backend architecture. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure, high-performance backend systems while contributing to technical decisions, code quality, and team growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using NestJS and TypeScript.

• Architect scalable, maintainable, and secure microservices and monolithic applications.

• Develop and optimize database schemas, queries, and data access layers.

• Integrate third-party services, payment gateways, messaging systems, and external APIs.

• Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms (JWT, OAuth2, RBAC, etc.).

• Ensure application security, performance, reliability, and scalability.

• Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards and best practices.

• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues.

• Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud deployments.

• Participate in system design discussions and technical decision-making.

• Mentor junior and mid-level developers and contribute to team growth.

• Prepare technical documentation and maintain system architecture documentation.

About You

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Minimum of 4 years of professional backend development experience.

• Strong hands-on experience with NestJS, Node.js, and TypeScript.

• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and backend services.

• Strong understanding of software design patterns and backend architecture principles.

• Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.

• Experience with ORM frameworks such as TypeORM or Prisma.

• Strong knowledge of authentication and authorization mechanisms.

• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with microservices architecture.

• Experience with Docker and containerized deployments.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

• Experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Redis Streams.

• Knowledge of API documentation tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI.

• Experience implementing automated testing (Unit, Integration, and E2E testing).

• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools.

• Experience in fintech, e-commerce, education, or enterprise software projects.

Technical Skills & Tools

• Frontend/Backend Technologies: NestJS, Node.js, TypeScript, Express.js

• Tools & Platforms: Git, Docker, Redis, Swagger/OpenAPI, CI/CD Pipelines, Linux Environment
