Dashen Bank is seeking a highly qualified Senior Shariah Advisory and Research Expert to join its Interest-Free Banking (IFB) division. This role is essential for ensuring that all products, services, and legal documentations are strictly aligned with Shariah principles and national financial regulations.
Job Summary
The Senior Shariah Advisory and Research Expert is responsible for conducting comprehensive Shariah research and reviewing bank documents to ensure correct terminology and compliance. You will evaluate both new and existing IFB products, provide expert advisory services across bank operations, and deliver specialized training to staff and customers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Shariah Research & Review

Conduct in-depth research to ensure all IFB contracts and materials are consistent with Shariah principles.

Review all documentation to verify the correct use of Shariah-aligned terminology.

Evaluate the Shariah aspects of Islamic Financial Services to ensure legal and religious compliance.
2. Shariah Advisory & Legal Support

Provide expert Shariah opinions and counsel to various work units within the bank.

Assess complex situations to develop legal conclusions and recommendations for the Bank’s course of action.

Ensure all operations align with National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) guidelines and statutory requirements.
3. Training & Engagement

Deliver specialized Shariah and IFB training programs for bank employees and customers.

Promote a culture of Shariah compliance and continuous improvement within the IFB business unit.

Collaborate with teams to share expertise and support the Bank’s mission and values.
Qualifications & Experience

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Shariah Law, Islamic Finance, Economics, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience.

Certifications: * Certifications in Interest-Free Banking are highly advantageous.

Additional certifications in Law, Banking, or Finance are preferred.
