Campaign Concept: “I Am” – self‑authored presence and autonomy
Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (all filming/recording to take place in Addis Ababa only)
Contract Type: Service contract (creative production)

1. Background and Rationale

Light for the World is an international disability and development organization dedicated to improving eye health, preventing avoidable blindness, and promoting the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities. It strengthens health systems, supports inclusive education and employment, and partners with communities and governments to ensure that people with disabilities can participate fully in society.

The organization also advocates for women rights, specifically for women with disabilities making campaign in International Women’s Day. For International Women’s Day 2026 calls for a shift from symbolic recognition to visible change, emphasizing women’s presence as a right and justice in action.

The campaign responds by enabling women, especially those at intersections of disability and marginalization to reclaim authorship and representation through self-portraits and an experiential campaign video built around the statement: “I Am.”

2. Purpose of the Assignment

To commission a qualified creative vendor/production team to deliver:

A curated Social Media Self‑Portrait Series (photo portraits + simple “I am” statements)
A short cinematic Campaign Video showing women existing, moving, working, resting, and thriving—with no narration, and a closing collective statement: “I Am.”
3. Objectives

The assignment contributes to the campaign objectives to:

Affirm women’s presence as a right and a form of justice
Strengthening women’s autonomy and self-definition in public narratives
Encourage women and girls to take up space—visibly, confidently, unapologetically
4. Scope of Work (What the Vendor Will Do)

4.1 Pre‑production (Photos + Video)

The vendor will:

Creative alignment & planningReview campaign concept “I Am” and agree on a simple, editorial visual approach that centers the woman as subject (not object), with minimalist text.
Production planPropose a practical shoot plan for Addis Ababa-only recording, including locations, schedule, crew plan, and accessibility accommodations.
Casting coordination supportWork with Light for the World to feature 5 women
Consent & safeguarding preparationPrepare model release forms and informed consent processes (including accessible formats).
Shot list & storyboardProvide a shot list for portraits and a storyboard/visual treatment for the video reflecting slow-motion presence and agency.
4.2 Production

A) Social Media Self‑Portrait Series (Photography)

Capture a curated set of strong, visually intentional portraits of 5 women.
Ensure diversity and respectful representation (including disability inclusion as relevant).
B) Campaign Video (Filming in Addis Ababa only)

Film a short cinematic video showing women in moments of leadership, focus, creativity, and everyday power.
Apply creative direction:Slow-motion sequences emphasizing intention, presence, and agency
No narration; the presence speaks for itself
End with collective statement: “I Am.”
Music: propose either licensed use of “I Am Woman” by Emmy Meli or provide instrumental alternatives subject to licensing and client approval.
4.3 Post‑production

Photo selection, retouching (natural editorial finish), formatting for social media.
Video edit (primary cut + revisions), color grade, sound design/mix, subtitles/captions.
Deliver multiple aspect ratios and platform-ready exports.

5. Key Deliverables

5.1 Social Media Self‑Portrait Series (Photography)

Minimum deliverables:

Final edited portraits:5 hero portraits (one per featured woman)
Plus optional 1–2 alternates per subject (recommended)
Formats/Sizes (minimum):1080×1350 (Instagram feed 4:5)
1080×1920 (Stories/Reels cover 9:16)
1080×1080 (square)
Text integration guidance:Provide versions with and without “I am” statement overlays (minimalist text).
File delivery:High-res JPG/PNG + web-optimized copies
Organized folder structure and naming convention
5.2 Campaign Video

Minimum deliverables:

Main video: 60 seconds
Formats/aspect ratios:16:9 (YouTube/website)
1:1 (square)
9:16 (Reels/TikTok/Stories)
Subtitles/captions:Burned-in captions and separate caption file (.SRT)
Music licensing:Proof of licensing for selected track OR documented royalty-free license
Thumbnails: 3 still frames for campaign use
Project/source files:Deliver final masters plus an archive of key project files (or as agreed)
6. Quality & Creative Requirements (Non‑Negotiables)

Bidders must comply with:

Self-authored, dignity-centered representation (women are central subjects; no pity framing).
Minimalist text approach for portraits—presence leads.
Video style: cinematic, slow-motion emphasis, no narration, and closing message “I Am.”
Accessibility & inclusion: plan shoots to accommodate participants with disabilities (physical access, pacing, communication support, etc.).
7. Management, Coordination & Inputs

7.1 Client (Light for the World – We Can Work) will provide:

Final list of featured women (or selection process)
Key messaging guardrails (“I Am” statements) and brand guidance
Review and approval within agreed timelines
Support on permissions for filming locations where applicable
7.2 Vendor will provide:

All production equipment, crew, logistics, and post-production capacity
Risk management and safeguarding during shoots
Consent forms and release documentation (shared with client)
8. Timeline (Indicative)

Bidders should propose a realistic schedule. Suggested structure:

11 February 2026 : Inception meeting, treatment, shot list, production plan
12 – 13/ February 2026 Photo + video production (Addis Ababa)
14 – 15 February 2026 first cut delivery (photos + video),
18 February 2026- Final delivery of photo and video.
9. Ethical Considerations, Consent & Safeguarding

The vendor must:

Obtain informed consent for image/video use (including social media and publicity)
Avoid stereotypes, tokenism, or exploitative storytelling
Ensure participants can opt out at any stage without penalty
Protect privacy and sensitive information
Secure and manage footage responsibly
11. Intellectual Property (IP) & Usage Rights

All final outputs (photos, video, thumbnails) become the property of Light for the World upon full payment, with unlimited usage rights across platforms and geographies.
Music must be properly licensed for intended use.
Vendors may not publish behind-the-scenes or final content without written approval.
12. Vendor Profile (Eligibility)

Bidders should demonstrate:

Bidders should have professional license for video production.
Proven experience in social campaign photography and short-form cinematic video
Strong portfolio showing respectful representation of people and/or inclusion-focused work
Capacity to produce multiple social formats and captioned outputs
Ability to deliver on time in Addis Ababa with professional production standards
13. Proposal Submission Requirements

Interested bidders must submit:

A) Technical Proposal

Methodology/ Understanding of the assignment and creative approach (aligned to “I Am”)
Workplan and timeline
Team composition and roles (Director/Producer, DoP, Photographer, Editor, Sound, etc.)
Equipment list
At least 3 relevant portfolio samples (photo + video links or QR Codes)
Recommendations letters or reference from previous works
License on video film production
Please include a detailed work plan with milestones and delivery dates in the proposal.
B) Financial Proposal

Itemized budget in ETB, including:Pre-production
Production (crew, equipment, transport within Addis Ababa)
Post-production
Company registration/license
