Job Title: Division Head /Senior Accountant

Finance Manager / Finance Director
Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with Ethiopian tax laws and accounting standards, and preparing accurate financial reports. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to supervise junior accounting staff.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Ensure compliance with Ethiopian Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS-based)
Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to management
2. General Ledger Management
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
Review journal entries and ensure proper documentation
Ensure accuracy of trial balance and financial records
3. Tax Compliance
Prepare and file tax returns (VAT, Withholding Tax, Payroll Tax & others)
Ensure compliance with regulations from the Ethiopian Ministry of Revenues (MoR)
Handle tax audits and liaise with tax authorities
4. Accounts Payable & Receivable
Oversee payment processes and ensure proper authorization
Monitor receivables and follow up on outstanding balances
6. Internal Controls & Compliance
Implement and monitor internal control systems
Ensure company policies and procedures are followed
Support internal and external audit processes
7. Payroll Management
Review payroll calculations, pension contributions, and employee taxes
Ensure compliance with Ethiopian labor and pension laws
8. Team Supervision
Supervise junior accountants and finance staff
Provide training and performance feedback
About You
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Experience
Minimum 8–10 years of accounting experience
Experience in Ethiopian tax system and reporting requirements
Skills
Strong knowledge of IFRS and Ethiopian tax laws
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Peachtree &ERP systems)
Advanced Excel skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good communication and leadership ability
