About the Job
We are looking for results-driven and tech-savvy IT and Digital Operations Officer (Senior) to manage and oversee all e-commerce backend related activities of our SeregelaGebeya Ecommerce platform and its products. The ideal candidate will ensure and responsible for designing and implementing the back-end infrastructure that supports both web applications and mobile apps. He/she expected to build scalable, efficient, and secure back-end services, ensuring seamless integration with both web-based platforms and mobile applications (iOS/Android). The role involves collaborating with front-end developers to integrate APIs, optimize performance, and ensure a seamless experience for users across all platforms.

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬

API Development: Design and implement RESTful APIs, SOAP API or GraphQL to power both mobile apps and web applications, ensuring they are fast, secure, and scalable.
Web & Mobile App Data Integration: Ensure that back-end services can handle data integration for both mobile and web platforms, ensuring that all user data is processed efficiently across both environments.
Cross-Platform Optimization: Optimize back-end systems to support web and mobile-specific needs, such as minimizing data transfer, ensuring low-latency responses, and optimizing for mobile-specific constraints like battery life and bandwidth.
Cloud Infrastructure: Use cloud services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) to host and scale back-end systems, ensuring robust and scalable services for both web and mobile platforms.
Database Management: Design and maintain databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) optimized for both web and mobile app functionality, including real-time updates, offline support, and ensuring data synchronization across multiple platforms.
Authentication & Authorization: Implement secure authentication and authorization protocols (e.g., OAuth, JWT, multi-factor authentication) to ensure secure access for users across mobile and web apps.
Push Notification & Real-Time Features: Integrate push notification services (e.g., Firebase Cloud Messaging for mobile apps) and real-time communication features (e.g., WebSocket) into both mobile and web applications.
Security & Privacy: Implement security best practices to protect sensitive data, including data encryption, secure data transfer, and protection against common vulnerabilities (e.g., SQL injection, XSS, CSRF).
Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance of both web and mobile app services to handle high traffic, ensure fast response times, and reduce system downtime.
Collaboration with Front-End Developers: Work closely with front-end developers to ensure smooth integration of back-end services with front-end interfaces, both for web and mobile apps.
Monitoring & Maintenance: Continuously monitor the performance of back-end systems, resolving issues proactively to ensure system uptime and user satisfaction.
Version Control: Use version control tools like Git to manage the codebase and collaborate with the development team.

About You
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
2 years of Proven experience as a Back-End Developer, with a focus on developing scalable systems for web and mobile applications.
Strong knowledge of ecommerce platforms and related technologies.
Experience with website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
Proficiency in server-side programming languages such as Laravel PHP, Node.js, Python, Java and Ruby
Experience with RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL, and integrating them into both web and mobile platforms.
Strong knowledge of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and database design, optimized for both web and mobile environments.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for deploying and scaling web and mobile services.
Experience implementing authentication methods (OAuth, JWT) and securing data exchanges between web/mobile clients and back-end services.
Familiarity with push notification services (e.g., Firebase, Apple Push Notification Service) for mobile apps and real-time features like WebSocket’s for web apps.
Knowledge of web security best practices and mobile security (e.g., encryption, secure data transfer).
Experience with version control using Git and collaborative development environments.
Knowledge of database management, and cloud-based computing.
Understanding of online payment processing.
Experience with API integrations.
